CFP: The Films of Joseph H. Lewis

Few filmmakers created as unique a body of work in the United States as Joseph H. Lewis. All too
little has been published on his work, especially on films other than Gun Crazy (1950).

We are currently soliciting abstracts of 150-200 words for essays to be included in a proposed
anthology on Lewis’s work. Essays may focus on individual films or themes/topics that pervade
several films.

Essays included in the anthology will be of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 words, referenced in
MLA endnote style. One scholarly press has already committed to publishing this work, though
we are currently exploring various options.
