_Kairos: A Journal for Teachers of Writing in Webbed Environments_ is an
electronic journal designed to serve as a peer-reviewed resource for
teachers, researchers, and tutors of writing at the college and university
level, including Technical Writing, Business Writing, Professional
Communication, Creative Writing, Composition, and Literature. We are

For the News section of issue 4.1, we are soliciting the following sorts

AMERICAN CULTURE THOUGH HISTORY is a series of
books edited by Ray B. Browne and Larry Kreiser for The
Greenwood Press. The Editors hereby solicit suggested book
topics for the 16-book series. Authors will have 15 to 24 months
to complete their manuscripts.

The stated mission of the series is to provide an overview of American
popular culture through the eras and decades of our history so that teachers
and student will be able to observe trends in the many areas
listed below and to learn how each evolved into the popular culture
or our time.

CALL FOR BOOK PROPOSALS: *Ireland in Theory*: Irish Studies Series

This series of book-length studies, to be published by the Edwin Mellen
Press, is a new venture in the area of Irish Studies. Its thematic
approach will be interdisciplinary so that the developments in literary
and cultural theory can be brought to bear on issues concerned
with Irishness.

*Ireland in Theory* will imbricate the theoretical developments of the last
fifty years with a questioning of the epistemological status of Irish
writing, Irish culture and Irish identity, and their interaction.
