various media forms, pertaining to the longstanding idea of the end of
the world. Participants are encouraged to interpret the conference
theme broadly and innovatively. Individual presentations will be
limited to 20 minutes in length.

The interaction between film and music provides a rich opportunity from

examine the political and cultural realities of popular music forms and the
interplay between these forms. Considering the conference’s title,
“The Documentary Tradition,” research that is able, within a documentary
film form, to make sense of musical practice in culture and potentially
everyday life will be considered for the “Music and Performance”

Americana: The Institute for the Study of American Popular Culture is
dedicated to publishing exceptional American Studies scholarship and
American creative writing.
