Call for Papers: Vagantes Graduate Medieval Conference

*******************************************

VAGANTES is an annual, travelling conference for graduate students
studying any aspect of the Middle Ages. The conference was conceived
with several goals in mind, including the fostering of a sense of
community among graduate medievalists, providing exposure to an
interdisciplinary forum, and showcasing the resources of the host
institutions -- all kept within a student budget.

The 5th conference will be hosted by the Graduate Medievalists at UC
BERKELEY from March 2-5, 2006.

Just a reminder to interested parties that the deadline to
submit to ?Graphic Novels as Complements to the Classics"
is June 15. I have recently been contacted by a leading
 publisher of English Education materials that would like
to see sample chapters and more by July 15, so getting
papers to me in a timely fashion is very important.

As well, please note that I will be moving: My new address
come June 1st will be 110 B Appletree
Road/Charlottesville, VA 22903. Please send essays there
if you feel they will be arriving after the 1st. As well,
e-mail submissions sent to jbc9f_at_virginia.edu will be
accepted. Sending via both methods encouraged.

This conference will celebrate the centennial of Dunbar's death by exploring
new critical perspectives on the full range of his career as a poet,
novelist, lyricist, dramatist, and journalist. The conference organizers
will edit a selection of the papers for a special issue of African American
Review.

Hemlow Prize in Burney Studies

The Burney Society invites submissions for the Hemlow Prize, named in
honor of the late Joyce Hemlow, Greenshields Professor of English at
