McDonald, Rob

I am interested in receiving detailed proposals (500 words) or whole essays
on Erskine Caldwell for possible inclusion in a collection to be published
in 2005 by McFarland. The goal is to elevate Caldwell's critical stature by
presenting fresh studies that measure his work fully-and
provocatively-against established traditions of American literature.

All approaches are welcome, but to complement other essays in the volume, I
am particularly interested in including discussions of the following topics:

Proposals sought for a proposed collection of essays entitled
"Buddhism: 'Eastern' Religion, World Literature" on interactions among
Buddhist faiths, writings, practices and "Western" literature. Most
interested in proposed histories of Buddhism and literature within a
single period (20-c British, for example); investigations of the
influence of a particular Buddhist school or Buddhist text over time or
over several texts, investigations of groups of similar texts by
different authors, or investigations of Buddhism within the work of
single significant figures, like Thoreau or Kerouac. Less interested in
investigations of a single text unless it is an undeniably important

Weiser, Mary Elizabeth

The editors of Composition Studies announce a special issue devoted to
composition in the small college. Submissions may address any aspect of
teaching or administering composition in the small college. How do
differences in size, mission, and faculty work affect the nature of
writing programs and writing instruction in small colleges? What role can
and should small colleges play in shaping Composition Studies as a field?
How can writing instruction in small colleges complicate or call into
question dominant assumptions about composition professionals and their
work? Course designs are also welcome. See the website for details about
format.
