The award-winning M/C Journal is looking for new contributors. M/C is a
crossover journal between the popular and the academic, and a blind- and
peer-reviewed journal.

Readers are invited to submit pieces for a book project which will
consist of original feminist fairy tales and psychological/cultural
analytical/interpretative essays about the tales. If you are interested
in participating, I'll need expressions of interest, abstracts, or
proposals by 9/15/04; I must have the stories and essays by 1/15/05.
Since some of the writing you do may involve self-disclosure, I will
need your mailing address so that I can mail you the requisite Indiana
University "human subject" permission form for this type of writing
project if I accept your work for inclusion in the collection. I will

'Bush Culture' Review Series

Bad Subjects invites reviews (750-1000 words) or review essays (1000-3000 words) on music, books, comics, films, television, theater, art, street performance, or any cultural production associated with the political culture created by the current Bush administration. We will be especially interested in critical discussions of anti-Bush culture and their counter-politics.

Bad Subjects is a heterodox progressive journal located on the English Server (Iowa State University) at http://eserver.org/bs, with approximately 5000 readers daily. This review series will help inaugurate a new website for the journal to be unveiled on September 1, 2004.

Alexander Street Press is seeking brief biographies of American Dramatists
in exchange for publishing credits. Bios need to be 500-800 words and will

Deadline extended

I am seeking contributors for a volume in the Dictionary of Literary
Biography series with the working title _North American University
Presses_. Entries will range in length from 3000-8000 words, and offer
a chronological overview of the history of each press, discuss the
press's significance, editorial emphases, and current publishing
activities. Contributors receive a small honorarium and a copy of the
volume. The deadline for submission of completed entries is 1 January
2005.

Facts On File, a New York publisher of reference books for schools and
libraries, is seeking a scholar to write a one-volume encyclopedia on Toni
Morrison, focusing on critical analyses of her works. The ideal author will
have a Ph.D., broad knowledge of Morrison's works, and an ability to write
clearly and succinctly for students in both high school and college. This
large project (250,000-300,000 words) must be completed within two years.

update: Freedom & Rock 'n Roll deadline extension (grad journal issue;
9/10/04)

New Deadline: September 10, 2004. postscript: a peer-reviewed journal of
graduate criticism and theory published annually by graduate students in the
Department of English at Memorial University of Newfoundland has extended
the deadline for its forthcoming issue on freedom and rock 'n roll until
September 10th, 2004. Graduate students are encouraged to submit critical
works that engage the following cfp:

Shakespeare Bulletin, the journal of performance criticism and scholarship, is
seeking articles for its Hands On Shakespeare slot. Essays should be written
from the perspective of someone materially involved in some aspect of the
stage or film production of Renaissance drama, and while they should be
intellectually rigorous, and both critically and theoretically informed, the
articles should be rooted expressly in the concrete conditions of performance,
be it acting, directing, dramaturgy, design, voice work etc.
