This session at the 2024 Pacific Ancient & Modern Language Association (PAMLA) conference will explore the tendency of contemporary literary works to portray non-human entities through a racial lens. We invite papers that examine this trend in the context of techno-Orientalism, which often reduces and objectifies the image of Asians to that of the hyper-modern.
