The Coppolas and American Zoetrope (PAMLA, roundtable)
Francis Ford Coppola’s long and distinguished career, from Dementia 13 in 1963 to Megalopolis and his Kennedy Center Honors and American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement award in 2024-25, we celebrate not only in its own right, but in its broader cinematic context as well. On the one hand, we have his filmmaking family and their cinematic endeavors, including those of his daughter Sofia, son Roman, father Carmine, wife Eleanor, sister Talia Shire, and nephews Jason Schwartzman and Nicolas Cage. On the other hand, we have the Coppola studio, American Zoetrope, from its 1969 establishment to the present, and its extended roster of domestic and foreign filmmakers and films.
