Edited Book on Recent Arab Women's Autobiographical Writings in English
Call for contribution

    My book Reading Arab Women's Autobiographies. Shahrazad Tells Her
Story was published last November (2003) by Texas University Press.
The book fills a gap in the field. Texas University Press expressed
interest in another book in the same area.
    In the book, I looked at autobiographical, fictional
autobiographical and anthologies of interviews with women. I read texts
by Huda Shaarawi, Nawal El-Saadawi, Fadwa Tuqan, Bouthaina Shaaban,
Fatima Mernissi, and Nayra Atiya. The book also examined the
sociopolitical background of the texts as well as the tradition of
narrative theory.

**CALL FOR PAPERS: DRESS AND FASHION IN LITERATURE**

We are currently accepting proposals for a proposed collection of
essays on dress/fashion in literature. We are interested in material
on a variety of periods and genres. Issues under consideration
include, but are not limited to, the following:

Narratives of African American Education

We invite submissions for an forthcoming published collection of essays
exploring the complex relationship between African Americans and education in
the United States. In light of recent legal developments concerning
Affirmative Action, we seek to develop a genealogy of narratives exploring the
myriad ways education has impacted the formation of black identities (both
from within and without black communities) and the ways African Americans have
shaped—and continue to shape—national narratives of education.

This issue will host papers that address the issue of globalisation in =
relation to the new directions in teaching and research in the field of =
Renaissance Literature, Drama and Cultural Studies.

I am currently seeking contributors for a new volume in the Dictionary of Literary Biography series, 20th Century American Gothic and Romance Writers, to be published by Bruccoli Clark Layman, Inc. in 2006.

The entries vary in length from 3,000-12,000 words, but each entry should combine a biographical/bibliographical narrative with a critical assessment of the author's works.

Calling for authors to write for the Encyclopedia of Documentary Film,
to be published by Routledge (a division of Taylor & Francis Books) in
September 2005. The Encyclopedia will be a three-volume work and will
contain over 800 entries describing individual films, directors,
producers, theorists, production companies, and publications. It will
also address broad themes such as modernism, Marxism, and feminism, and
key concepts including reflexivity and autobiography.

Entries will also cover style techniques, technical issues, and types of
documentaries. Overviews of the documentary film traditions of specific
countries and regions will also be provided.
