The first annual Cultural Studies Graduate Student Conference at George
Mason University will interrogate the politics of cultural programming
in public spaces.

Institutions within the conference purview include: museums, festivals,
the performing arts, sporting events, multicultural and/or ethnically
specific celebrations, gigs and club nights, and tourist spectacles. Of
special interest is the menu of activities available in specific
localities at any given moment: Of what is this menu comprised? To whom
is it offered? And at what cost?

I am seeking submissions for the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association's "Practical Approaches to Teaching Culture" panel, to be presented at the 61st annual RMMLA convention in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (October 4-7, 2007).

In today's multicultural environment, college instructors are challenged to develop lessons that increase students' understanding of culture and intercultural interaction. By integrating innovative and creative lessons into our curricula, we can engage students so that they apply the lessons they learn in the classroom to the world around them.

Fourteenth Annual Graduate Humanities Conference

This is a call for papers that address the topic of gay masculinity. Can there be such a thing, or rather, are there many types of masculinities or is there only one masculinity? Must a gay masculinity (which is usually labeled as inadequate or excessive) always be defined against the heteronormative definition of what is masculine ? Academic pieces that consider these topics, and others of the same theme, are welcome.

CFP: Renaissance Drama (Shakespeare on the World Stage), to be held at
the South Central MLA, Memphis, Tennessee, November 1-3, 2007.

This session will examine the ways Shakespeare offers insight into
cultural diversity. We invite proposals that explore any aspect of
Shakespeare on the world stage, including television and film.
