ES Review. Spanish Journal of English Studies, a refereed international journal published yearly by the Department of Filología Inglesa at the University of Valladolid, cordially invites submission of original manuscripts in the form of articles and book reviews dealing with all major areas of English Studies.

“Literature in his truly encyclopedic respect, displaceses the various kinds of knowledge, does not fix or fetishize any of them”: with this statement Roland Barthes affirmed the singularity of the literary fact and the specific relationship between literature and other disciplines. Provocative as it is, literature can at times both attract and irritates, soothe and disturb. Barthes’ claim can certainly apply to Elena Ferrante’s works. Her writing is in dialogue with traditional and contemporary texts, articulating practices and topics which are central not only to the literary universe, but also to philosophy, feminism, history, social sciences, and psychoanalysis.

The Charles Olson Society will sponsor a session at the annual Re-Viewing Black Mountain College conference, to take place this year in Asheville, North Carolina, November 12-14. Given the conference’s open call for papers, we will accept any proposals that investigate the formal and technical innovations carried out by poets who have looked to Black Mountain College as an influence. However, in keeping with the conference’s thematic focus on John Cage this year, the Society would particularly welcome papers that explore the rich interdisciplinary relationships between the Black Mountain Poets, such as Olson, Robert Creeley, Robert Duncan, John Wieners, Denise Levertov, etc., and music.

Call for Papers for Volume 27 (2023)

The editors of EJES are issuing calls for papers for the three issues of the journal to be published in 2023. EJES operates in a two-stage review process. The first stage is based on the submission of detailed proposals (up to 1,000 words) and results in invitations to submit full essays from which a final selection is then made. The deadline for essay proposals for this volume is 30 November 2021, with delivery of completed essays in the spring of 2022, and publication in Volume 27 (2023).

Wide Screen invites papers for its 2021 General Issue (Issue 9 No. 1).

For the last several years, we have worked primarily with guest editors who have edited special issues that have attracted exciting work on subjects such as the production of cinematic space, video games, and the studio system in Indian cinema. This year, we want to invite papers for a general issue that is open to new, critical work in all areas of film and media studies.

You can submit critical essays, book reviews, festival reports or interviews.

In addition, we are also accepting abstracts for two dossiers that will be a part of this issue.
