Crossings: A Counter-Disciplinary Journal

2005 is the fiftieth annivesary of the publication (in Greek) of Nikos
Kazantzakis's novel, "The Last Temptation of Christ." Since this time, and
especially after Martin Scorsese's filmic adapatation of the novel in
1988, assessments of this work have ranged from "praiseworthy" to
"blasphemous," according to religious persuasion.

Proposals are invited for a chapter contributions to an essay collection
reappreciating "The Last Temptation of Christ" fifty years on. The
anthology, to be published in 2005, will be divided into two sections, one
part devoted to the novel and one part devoted to the film.

Portuguese at UC Santa Barbara is soliciting papers for its forthcoming 2003
publication. The issue will focus on performance and spectatorship in Hispanic
and Lusophone film and literature. Interdisciplinary studies and approaches are
especially welcome.

American Poetry (to be published in June 2004 by Facts on File, Inc., a
publisher that enjoys very wide distribution in libraries, colleges and high
schools, as well as bookstores).

Call for Papers

We are organizing panels and seeking papers for them on Asian
literature, including Asian film, for the 9th International Conference
on Intercultural Communication to be held at California State
University, Fullerton, July 24-28, 2003. Papers on any topic relevant
to Asian literature and film are invited, but we are particularly
interested in those which focus on over-crossing phenomena in Asian
literature and film, such as:

International relationships
Inter-Asian influences
Literary affinities between the old and new
Intertextuality

CFP: _Women's Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal_

_Women's Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal_ is currently accepting
manuscripts for publication. Women's Studies provides a forum for the
presentation of scholarship and criticism about women in the fields of
literature, history, art, sociology, law, political science, economics,
anthropology and the sciences. It also publishes poetry, film and book
reviews.

Inquistive, original, well-researched manuscripts on any of the
aforementioned humanities topics or any new topics are encouraged.
