Call for Papers: Faulkner and Whiteness

Faulkner lived and wrote at a time when models of normative and deviant
identity were increasingly racialized, even as models of racial identity
were increasingly biologized. This is one among many reasons why whiteness
in Faulkner--and the whiteness of Faulkner--deserve our critical attention.
This special double issue of The Faulkner Journal welcomes submissions that
problematize the ostensibly unremarkable phenomenon of whiteness in
Faulkner's life and career. Topics could include, but are by no means
limited to, the following:

Mind and Human Interaction, an interdisciplinary journal published by
the Center for the Study of Mind and Human Interaction, University of
Virginia, is seeking papers on the theme of "Diaspora Identity".

Whether exiled or immigrating to a new land, whether first or second
generation, an individual psychologically intertwines the home of origin
and the present home in a variety of ways that impact his/her identity.
We would be very interested in learning more about this psychological
process and look forward to receiving your submission.

Stirrings Still would like to announce that our deadline for book reviews
has been extended to September 1, 2004.

Stirrings Still: The International Journal of Existential Literature seeks
review essays (1250-3000 words) and review notices (500-750 words) of
recently published books. Stirrings Still is a forum for the discussion of
the relationship between existential literature & philosophy and postmodern
literature & theory and welcomes reviews of books in fields related to this

Broadcasting Modernism

Abstracts are invited for a volume on the relations between Modernist literature and aspects of radio. Abstracts might treat either the influence of radio on literary production, or the impact of literary production on the forms of broadcasting activity. As an alternative outlet for creative expression, radio employed many writers and poets in the dissemination of culture via the public/national radio services of the B.B.C. or the C.B.C, or via U. S. commercial stations. Papers treating this topic in other languages are also welcome, as is commentary on the differing practices and impact of commercial vs. national broadcasting systems.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - The Transdisciplinary Journal of Emergence

SDA Bocconi Business School (Milan, Italy) announces the forthcoming online
publication of the second issue of "The transdisciplinary journal of
emergence" (www.sdabocconi.it). TJE is an English-language on-line journal
that will be published semi-annually starting from September 2003. We are
seeking contributions for the second (Summer 2004) issue, to be sent by July
15th, 2004.

The Theme of the second issue is: Migration, Memory, and the Construction of
the Self in Post-Industrial Societies.

Fiction Foundation Essay Prize is coming up on 31st May 2004.
The details of the competition are as follows:

The Science Fiction Foundation seeks entries for its annual graduate
essay prize.
£250 will be awarded for the best unpublished essay in science fiction
criticism.
The winning entry will be published in the journal Foundation.
