This panel is concerned with all things Andy Warhol and his intersections
with contemporary culture. Topics are included but not limited to

-How has advertising changed since the pop art movement Warhol spearheaded?
-warhol's relationship to other artists – both his own contemporaries and
those who followed him
-How is he represented in literature (if at all)?
-analysis of his artistic technique
-papers that examine warhol's writings and films
- examination of film representations of Warhol and his life
-his influence on postmodernism

Representing Segregation
A special issue of African American Review

African American Review is soliciting papers for a special issue on
Representing Segregation slated for publication in early 2008. Is
there an identifiable literary tradition responding to, representing,
or protesting U.S. racial segregation? Examination of individual
works, authors, genres, or movements are welcome.

theorize performance. This panel invites papers that consider how medieval
and/or renaissance performance challenges
traditional notions of periodization. Periodization is defined broadly in
this context. Papers might suggest how performance bridges such moments as
ancient to early medieval, the High to Late Middle Ages, Medieval to
Renaissance, or pre- to post-Reformation, but papers that examine fresh
definitions, ideas, and theories of periodization are especially encouraged.

Dickinson?s poetry from an interdisciplinary perspective. Among=20

CFP: Debut Panel, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Theatre (ATHE)
(2/15/06; 8/3/06-8/6/06)

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Focus Group of the Association
for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) invites submissions for its Debut
Panel from scholars who have not yet published articles or presented at
a national conference. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2006.

The Louisiana English Journal will be publishing a special issue
commemorating the 2005 hurricanes Katrina and Rita in October 2006. We
are seeking personal stories, poems, before/after pictures, and original
art that relate the experiences of those who were in Louisiana at the
time, whether they were residents, tourists, or students. Those
displaced by the storms are especially encouraged to submit their work.
We also welcome articles or stories from those in or outside of
Louisiana about the effects of these two hurricanes in their communities
and schools, such as the influx of displaced residents and students, and
how they dealt with them.

Due to the nature of cultural production, both academic and creative,
it is inevitable that particular texts, objects, subjects, cultures,
and concepts will be marginalized or excluded, giving a confusing and
often contradictory cultural landscape to a coherence that is abstract
and problematic. How might we account for the remnants and remainders
that are scattered about our fields of inquiry? How might we begin to
reconceptualize these grounds?

Call for Contributors: I am seeking contributors for Icons of Hip-hop, a two-volume narrative reference collection to be published by Greenwood Press. This collection will consist of 10,000 word biographical essays on hip-hop's 24 most important artists. Some of the artists currently available to contributors include Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Lil Kim, Master P, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube.
