The Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language, and Media (MCLLM)
is hosting its annual graduate student conference on March 31 and
April 1, 2006. The conference will be held at Northern Illinois
University in DeKalb, Illinois. First-time conference presenters are
encouraged to apply!

The keynote speakers for this year's conference are Dr. Susan Gubar,
Distinguished Professor of English at Indiana University and George
Hillocks, Professor Emeritus of the University of Chicago and
Consultant in Writing and Language Arts Education.

"Elizabeth Stoddard and Nineteenth-Century Literary Culture"
American Literature Association Conference

This panel will explore the connections between Elizabeth Stoddard and
the broader literary culture of nineteenth-century America. Papers on
any aspects of her connection to that culture—biographical, literary,
aesthetic, thematic—are welcome. We especially seek papers that do not
exclusively engage with Stoddard's work alone, but consider her within a
broader context.
