For the MLA's Options for Teaching series, the Publications Committee has approved development of the volume Teaching Literature and Law, edited by Austin Sarat, Cathrine Frank, and Matthew Anderson. As currently projected, the volume has four sections: 1) theory and history of the Law and Literature movement, 2) model courses, 3) texts, and 4) resources. Submissions are welcome from faculty in diverse fields (i.e., literatures in English and other languages, law, art, film, history, philosophy, and the social sciences).

The recent conference call for papers on "Diversity and Change: Early Canadian Women Writers" has yielded the attention of Cambridge Scholars Press (http://www.cambridgescholarspress.com), who is interested in publishing an edited collection of essays on the subject. This is a call for complete, developed, critical papers on diversity and change in early Canadian women's writing for this collection of essays.

The deadline for proposals and the duration of this interdisciplinary
conference which aims to explore the ritual and rhetoric of queenship in late
medieval and early modern England have been extended.

We hope to encourage debate on the image and representation of queens in a
variety of genres, and on the cultural and political narratives of queenship.

Topics might include but are not limited to:

the representation of queens in early modern drama;

texts and textiles produced by queens;

Eudora Welty: Delta Wedding Series

The 2006 Ohio Shakespeare Conference will be held on the campus of
Marietta College this coming November 9th-11th. The theme of this
year's meeting will be "Violently Shakespeare." As is always the case
with the OSC, papers that thoughtfully employ any theoretical approach
are welcome. We are posting here on the Penn CFP early in the hope that
you'll consider us when putting together your travel schedule for next
year. Check our web page around mid-April to get complete, updated
information about the Marietta conference. If you visit the page now,
you can read all about our last two meetings (Cincinnati and Toledo).

Please submit paper proposals for a panel on race and citizenship in early
America, to be presented at the NEASA "Homeland Insecurity" conference in
Portland, Maine next September. Abstract and brief cv, please. Information on
the conference is available at www.neasa.org. The deadline for submissions is
Mar 15; I'll be happy to answer any questions before then.
