We invite contributions for a projected essay collection on John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's rock opera _Hedwig and the Angry Inch_ (Hedwig). We welcome scholarly essays from different fields (literature, film, cultural studies, religious studies, classics, anthropology, biology, educational psychology, speech communication/rhetoric, and others) engaging with _Hedwig_ in a variety of cultural contexts. Topics might include but are not limited to:

We're looking for creative nonfiction writers to be included in a panel
proposal for the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) annual
conference in Austin, TX, March 8-11, 2006. Titled "When Does it become
'Creative'?: Writing and Teaching Nonfiction Genres," this panel will
explore the sometimes blurry boundary between creative and other
nonfiction. Panelists who can speak to the ways that writers and teachers
in various disciplines (journalism, history, science, business, education,
etc.) can encourage, teach, and model creative thinking and writing are

in the Early Modern Period

Alan Bray’s _The Friend_ has sparked a great deal of
discussion about the ways in which same-sex alliances
fit within, and signify to, larger social, political,
or cultural formations. For a proposed panel at RSA
2006, in San Francisco, we invite papers that consider
same-sex associations and representations under the
shelter of, or in tension with, other allegiances: to
marriage, to patron, to genre, to nation, or to
politics, to name only a few possibilities.
