Acacia Group's 2006 Conference: Politicizing Texts

The Acacia Group of California State University, Fullerton is seeking
papers for our 2006 conference to be held February 17th and 18th,
2006. We are interested papers/presentations for the following
suggested panel:

Lifewriting Annual seeks critical and scholarly essays on lifewriting in
all its forms -- biography, autobiography, memoir, journals, diaries, and
works in other media. We are particularly interested in articles describing
and assessing scholarly resources for biographical writing, especially
collections of manuscripts and letters. We welcome hybrid essays combining
one or more lifewriting genres, e.g., memoir and biography, for a section
called "Crossings." We are also looking for reviews of recently published
biographies, autobiographies, and other works of lifewriting. Submissions
may treat works in any language or period, but must be written in English.

Deadline for 2006 issue: January 15, 2006.

We are calling for papers which treat the challenges and opportunities of
teaching language and literature from a Judeo-Christian perspective in a
college or university community. Especially welcome are papers which treat
this topic in a secular setting. Selected papers will be read at the
National Faculty Leadership Conference held June 22-25, 2006 in the
Washington, D. C. area.
 
Titles with abstracts of 300-400 words should be e-mailed as an attachment
to eng_dnh_at_shsu.edu by February 15, 2006. Contributors will be notified of
acceptance by April 1, 2006.

Abstracts invited: "Breaking New Ground on Andrew Lytle," a proposed
session for the American Literature Association's annual conference in
San Francisco, 25-28 May 2006.

After a decade of near-obscurity, Andrew Nelson Lytle has reemerged as a
pertinent figure in southern literary history. In the work of Richard
Gray, for instance, Lytle's career serves as a handy example of how a
southern cultural and literary orthodoxy came to be. The fiction,
however, remains largely neglected. To begin a remedy, this session
seeks new interpretations and new approaches. Possible topics for papers
might include:

The CSA conference (April 19-22, 2006) will again feature a series of
seminars. Seminars are small-group (maximum 15 individuals) discussion
