The Better-Known Chopin: Making It New
  
For over fifty years, The Awakening and stories like "Desiree's Baby" and
"The Story of an Hour" have been part of the literary canon and staples of
the classroom. As the times and contexts change, we are finding new
approaches and new perspectives on these familiar works. For this ALA
panel, which is sponsored by The Kate Chopin Society, papers and
presentations should provide some re-visionings of Kate Chopin's
better-known fiction: proposing innovative critical approaches, developing
new textual pairings and readings, examining unexplored contexts, or
