Papers are being sought for a session on service learning at the CCCC
Convention to be held in Chicago on March 22-25, 2006. More
specifically, the session will focus on service learning in English and
composition courses at two-year colleges. Are there certain rewards and
challenges for instructors using service learning at two-year colleges?
What practices and strategies have been most successful? (How) has the
recent increased attention being given to service learning in general
carried over to two-year institutions? Practical or theoretical papers
on any aspect of these issues are welcome. Send an abstract (250 words)

CALL FOR PAPERS

 Contributors are sought for a new book on 'A History of Sexual
Perversion 1650-1850'. We specifically seek articles within the boundaries
of history of sexuality which examine so-called sexual 'perversions'; this
might include any sexual behaviour which was considered 'abnormal' for
its time and would include certain heterosexual, homosexual, lesbian,
transgender, transvestite etc. practices; and why was such behaviour was
seen as 'abnormal', 'perverse' or threatening; subjects for discussion
might be considered include bestiality, flagellation, sex with children,
fetishes, sado-masochism etc.

art and written work for Vol 15, Mobilizing Nature.

Journal Culture, Language and Representation, published by Universitat
Jaume I, Spain, invites contributions for volume 3, to appear May 2006, on
the issue of "Politeness".

Politeness, regarded as a basic interactional principle of communication,
may be approached from a wide range of theoretical or analytical
perspectives: pragmatics / linguistics; discourse analysis and
conversation, semiotics, diachronic studies, intercultural processes, etc.

Up to five complete essays are currently sought by the editor of *Macbeth: New
Critical Essays,* an essay collection that is now under contract as a
forthcoming installment in Routledge's widely distributed Shakespeare Criticism
Series. Only previously unpublished essays are eligible for inclusion.
(However, essays that are included will be available for later republication.)

'Literary London: Interdisciplinary studies in the representation of London' is the first and only refereed academic journal to provide a common forum for scholars and students engaged specifically in the study of London and literature. It is dedicated to fostering an intellectual community that will facilitate interdisciplinary exchange. While the editorial focus of the journal is on representations of London in literature, articles in cognate disciplines that will contribute to readings of London are very much encouraged. These subject areas might include readings of London in history, drama, film, geography, art history, architecture, urban sociology, painting and engraving, etc.

CFP: Kurt Vonnegut reference book (no deadline; book)
 
Facts On File, a New York publisher of reference books for schools and
libraries, is seeking a scholar to write a one-volume reference book on
Kurt Vonnegut, focusing on critical analyses of his works. The ideal
author will have a Ph.D., broad knowledge of Vonnegut's life and works,
and an ability to write clearly and succinctly for students in both high
school and college. This large project (250,000-300,000 words) must be
completed within two years. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines will be
