Introduction
Pedro Almodovar is now widely recognised as the most famous and successful
Spanish film director since Bunuel. With a career spanning 30 years and
including a body of work in excess of 25 films, the time seems ripe for a
comprehensive appraisal of his career, thematic themes and concerns and
his significance both within academic discourse around cinema, within
Spanish culture and as one of the key contemporary directors of
international cinema.

Call for Paper Proposals for Proposed Panel "Gender, Sexuality and Time in
Renaissance England" at the Renaissance Society of America's 2006 meeting in
San Francisco
Recently, feminist and queer theorists have attempted to reconsider the
politics of time. Most of these critical interventions, however, have been based
in 19th and 20th-century understandings of time. This panel will consider
intersections of gender, sexuality and time in 16th and 17th-century England
in an effort to add an early modern perspective to some of these discussions.
Papers on particular texts, authors and genres, as well as broader
explorations of temporal and historical thinking and practices are all welcome.

For the Renaissance Society of America Conference in San Francisco (March 23-25, 2006).

This panel seeks to re-examine literary representations of revenge in early
modern culture. Papers are welcomed from across genres, countries, languages,
and disciplinary/theoretical approaches.

Much scholarly attention has been given to the mimetic function of revenge and
the authorizing narratives used to justify (or proscribe) vengeance.
Reevaluation of these issues is certainly welcomed. However, this panel seeks
to open the field of inquiry even further.

Call for Papers: Vagantes Graduate Medieval Conference

VAGANTES is an annual, travelling conference for graduate students
studying any aspect of the Middle Ages. The conference was conceived
with several goals in mind, including the fostering of a sense of
community among graduate medievalists, providing exposure to an
interdisciplinary forum, and showcasing the resources of the host
institutions -- all kept within a student budget.

The 5th conference will be hosted by the Graduate Medievalists at UC
BERKELEY from March 2-5, 2006.

submit to ?Graphic Novels as Complements to the Classics"
is June 15. I have recently been contacted by a leading
 publisher of English Education materials that would like
to see sample chapters and more by July 15, so getting
