Call for Papers (Edited Collection)

Research and Publication Centre at the National College of Arts, Lahore,

Pakistan, invites research papers for publication in a peer-reviewed
collection. The aim of the book is to examine the relationship between
education and colonialism. Therefore, the papers should examine the
pedagogical practices, institutions and British colonialism in the
subcontinent, especially with reference to contemporary Pakistan. The
editors would eagerly welcome those papers that employ theoretical
innovation with rigorous scholarship in order to analyze the nexus of
education and the legacies of imperialism in South Asia.

Call for chapter proposals:

'The Companion to Sound in Film and the Visual Media' (Continuum)

The Editor of this international volume is looking for chapters on key film, TV
and 'other media' composers. . . .

Chapters are likely to be 5,000 words in length, but suggestions for shorter or
longer contributions are welcome.

When complete, the book will be a comprehensive work on sound in film, TV and
multi-media, and will be suitable for researchers and as a general u/graduate
reference work.

This is an already contracted book with a major publisher and chapter authors
will also be given individual contracts.

    The ASSESSING JAMES PURDY Conference will take place October 25, 2003 in
Bartlett Hall of the university of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. All Purdy
enthusiasts are cordially invited, as are all fans of the best late twentieth
century fiction. There will be no registration fee.
    Essays are also solicited for the volume of essays that will follow up
the conference. The editor seeks essays on all aspects of Purdy's work, but is
especially interested in essays on the later stories, the plays and the poetry.

Submissions are invited from undergraduates, graduates, and educators for
Academic Exchange Extra (Editor-in-Chief, Elizabeth Haller). Extra presents
ideas, research methods, and pedagogical theories leading to effective
instruction and learning regardless of level, subject or context. We also
seek cogent essays, poetry and fiction.

Postcolonial Studies welcomes original and challenging contributions
from all over the world, informed by a variety of theoretical
perspectives, including postmodernism, marxism, feminism and queer
theory. Its aim is to generate a productive dialogue and exchange
between theorists and writers in disparate locations. All work submitted
will be refereed by a range of international readers and editors. In
addition to longer 7000 and 9000 word papers, we welcome photographic
essays, review articles and collaborative essays.

has traditionally focused on highlighting the voices of adjuncts
themselves, this upcoming issue will center on the perspectives of
administrators who supervise the teaching and professionalism of adjuncts

TRANSFORMATIONS: THE JOURNAL OF INCLUSIVE SCHOLARSHIP AND PEDAGOGY

DEADLINE: October 1, 2003

The editors of Transformations are seeking review essays (books, film,
video, performance, art, music, etc.) for our spring 2004 issue. Review
essays should examine resources for teaching a specific subject. The author
should describe the various resources (books, film, video, performance, art,
music) and offer a rationale for the usefulness and application of the
resources. The review may focus on one medium (e.g., movies) or several
(e.g., movies, websites, novels, and paintings).
