the broad theme of "Poetry and Politics."

Mantis is a journal of contemporary poetry, poetry translation and poetry
criticism. A forum for writers coming from a broad spectrum of
intellectual and aesthetic positions, Mantis is dedicated to publishing
new work that interrogates the relationships among critical writing,
creative writing, and translation.

_ANQ: A Quarterly Journal of Short Articles, Notes, and Reviews_ welcomes
contributions of factual articles and notes based on new research in the
language and literature of the English-speaking world. Articles offering
only explications de texte are not appropriate. The subjects of recent
articles have ranged from _The Canterbury Tales_ to "The Cask of
Amontillado" to _A Clockwork Orange_.

Submission Details. Manuscripts must follow MLA style, including
parenthetical citations in text, endnotes rather than footnotes (if
required), and an alphabetized list of Works Cited, as described in the _MLA
Style Manual, 2nd ed._ (1998) by Joseph Gibaldi.

Call for Papers: Teaching Short Fiction

Manuscripts are sought that address practical and/or theoretical
approaches to teaching the short story and other forms of short fiction.
These manuscripts will gladly be considered for inclusion in upcoming
issues of The Academic Exchange Quarterly, a peer-reviewed journal that
appears in both print and electronic versions and enjoys wide
circulation.

(SCTAN) is proud to announce the planned publication of an edited volume on
folklore and folklife of South Carolina. The volume will be published by
the University of South Carolina Press.
