(dis)junctions: lost in translation

This panel will consist of papers concerning the rhetoric around the
American narrative and Victory Culture. What narratives of history have
contributed to the American consciousness as a culture of victory?

-What are the major groundworks which have either disturbed or buttressed
the American vision of a victory culture? The cowboy/Indian narrative,
Rambo, etc.

-narratives of political victory (i.e. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, or the
more recent TV series The West Wing),

We're organizing the first COLLOQUIUM on SEXUAL DIVERSITIES in PUERTO
RICO, and I write to invite you to participate and send us YOUR
WONDERFUL PROPOSALS!!! The event is based at the Humanities Department,
University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez.
 
About one year ago, the UPR system included alternative sexualities in
its non-discriminatory statute, and PR sodomy laws (never quite
enforced) have been repealed. PR is thriving with change and the social
effervescence therein. And so this Colloquium comes at a perfect time
for you to enjoy this too!!!
