CFP: David Foster Wallace's INFINITE JEST (collection; deadline 5/1/04)

Essays are invited for a proposed casebook of new essays on David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest.

The editors (Joseph Dewey and Trey Strecker) are soliciting essays from established scholars as well as newcomers, and the collection will also include essays-responses from selected novelists (perhaps even Mr. Wallace himself). In all, the project promises to be hugely attractive to a university press.

To allow contributors the freedom necessary to explore the text, this volume of essays will not be restricted by any theoretical approach or agenda.

I am interested in receiving detailed proposals (500 words) or whole essays
on Erskine Caldwell for possible inclusion in a collection to be published
in 2005 by McFarland. The goal is to elevate Caldwell's critical stature by
presenting fresh studies that measure his work fully-and
provocatively-against established traditions of American literature.

All approaches are welcome, but to complement other essays in the volume, I
am particularly interested in including discussions of the following topics:

Proposals sought for a proposed collection of essays entitled
"Buddhism: 'Eastern' Religion, World Literature" on interactions among
Buddhist faiths, writings, practices and "Western" literature. Most
interested in proposed histories of Buddhism and literature within a
single period (20-c British, for example); investigations of the
influence of a particular Buddhist school or Buddhist text over time or
over several texts, investigations of groups of similar texts by
different authors, or investigations of Buddhism within the work of
single significant figures, like Thoreau or Kerouac. Less interested in
investigations of a single text unless it is an undeniably important

Gender and Sexuality in Contemporary Britain: Internet consumers=20

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS - FESTSCHRIFT FOR EVERETT ZIMMERMAN

AMS Press is seeking contributions for a special Festschrift edition of its
annual publication, Eighteenth-Century Novel. Publication is tentatively
scheduled for 2005. Final drafts of all manuscripts should be submitted by
15 July 2004.

At present the plan is to limit contributors to former students of
Professor Zimmerman, though other connections may be considered depending
on the response we get.
