(A One-Day Symposium Re-engaging the Wilson-Brustein Debates)

Paper proposals are invited for a conference entitled "Living Together,
Working Together: African-American Miners and the Coal Culture of
Southwestern Pennsylvania, 1870-1970." The conference is sponsored by the
Coal and Coke Heritage Center at The Pennsylvania State University's
Fayette Campus and is supported by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical
and Museum Commission. It will be held March 16, 2007. We have funding to
publish selected papers in a conference proceedings.

The National Association for Humanities Education (NAHE) invites =
250-word proposals for papers, panels, roundtables, and workshops for =
inclusion in the program of its 2007 conference, "The Golden Gateways of =
the Humanities: Transgressions/Transformation, Dissonance/Harmony," to =
be held at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in San Francisco, CA from =
February 28 to March 3, 2007. Papers should be planned for twenty =
minutes; panels, roundtables, and workshops should be planned for an =
hour and thirty minutes.

Auteur filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Spike Lee, and
others have worked extensively in both fictional and documentary films.
  However, most of the critical attention devoted to such filmmakers
has focused almost entirely on their fictional works. What are the
larger implications of this critical blind spot?

in which Christians made use of Kabbalistic ideas, themes and
traditions in

Contributors sought to write remaining unassigned entries on poets and topics for the forthcoming Companion to Twentieth Century British poetry, a reference book for high school and college students. The book involves about 400 entries, varying in length from 300-2000 words per entry. All entries will carry the author's name. Remaining entries include poems by Eavan Boland, Ted Hughes, and D.H. Lawrence. The Horror area of the Mid Atlantic American/Popular Culture Conference, October 27-29, 2006 in Baltimore MD welcomes proposals for papers dealing with all aspects of horror and the supernatural in various genres, such as literature, film, television, music and as part of popular culture (fashion, artifacts, attitudes, etc.)
