Professing Literature / Professing Faith: A Roundtable Discussion
The Comics and Popular Arts Conference (CPAC) invites submissions for our 15th Annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, September 1-5, 2022.
CPAC is an annual academic conference for the studies of comics and the popular arts, including science/speculative fiction and fantasy literature, film, and other media, comic books, manga, graphic novels, anime, gaming, etc., presented to a mixed audience of scholars and fans. The mission of CPAC is to promote scholarship on popular culture and to encourage the engagement between scholars and fans in order to deepen our understanding of comics and other popular arts. CPAC presentations are peer reviewed, based in scholarly research.

Contemporary film and TV in the UK appear to offer at least three interrelated problems for the lower socio-economic classes. There is imbalance, exploitation, and precarity in the industry; perennial problems around representation; and the inculcation of neoliberal ideology antithetical to social justice and equality. This free virtual conference, held by London Metropolitan University on Thursday 7th July 2022, is an opportunity to reflect upon and react to this scenario. Presenters will be welcome to develop their papers for submission to a special double edition of the Journal of Class and Culture.

Keystone DH is an annual conference and a network of institutions and practitioners committed to advancing collaborative scholarship in digital humanities research and pedagogy across the Mid-Atlantic. It is the organizers’ hope that the event will be hybrid, with both online and in-person components.

The Race and Yoga editorial board is currently seeking articles, personal narratives, interviews, book reviews, and creative works for the seventh issue of the journal. For this open theme issue, we are particularly interested in work that addresses the contemporary context and/or explores the connection between the present and the past.
Race and Yoga is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, and international academic journal committed to critical examinations of the history, politics, and practice of yoga.
Possible topics may include yoga in relationship to:
● Communities and accountability in the COVID-19 context, including but not limited to:
○ COVID-19 conspiracies

Ken Scholars Publishing invites book chapters to be included in a forthcoming scholarly volume on intertextuality in the poetry of Ernest Veyu.
As a postcolonial African (Cameroonian) poet, the texts of Veyu exhibit multiple layers of connection with a multitude of texts. The textual dialogues between Veyu's texts and the broad range of other texts reflect not just "the anxiety of influence" (Harold Bloom) but more profound symbiotic connections with cultures, movements and styles.
The Armstrong Continuum 2022 Meeting is seeking graduate student papers for a panel devoted to new work based on archival and scholarly research looking at the music, performances, and legacies of Louis Armstrong being done by graduate students across the globe. CFP: Precarity in Performance in the Early Global South
If New Orleans and the greater Atlantic world have been characterized by recurrent states of emergency and endemic oppression and hardship, it has also produced profound cultural invention and innovation, particularly in its wide array of performance cultures. “Precarity,” as this panel imagines it, invokes the vulnerability of living at sea level in an age of rising sea levels, but we also use the term to invoke the resourceful responses that shore up the region’s carefully constructed and balanced lives.
December 29th 2022 will be the 100th anniversary of William Gaddis’ birth. Washington University in St Louis, whose library holds Gaddis’ comprehensive archive, will commemorate this centenary two months earlier with exhibitions, art events, and performances, as well as an academic conference on the prospects for the next 100 years of studying Gaddis’s life and work. The celebration will be organized by Joel Minor (curator of the Modern Literature Collection, including Gaddis’ archive, at the university’s Olin Library), and Ali Chetwynd (author of multiple articles on Gaddis’ archive).
The theme of the 2022 meeting poses that “the roof is on fire” and the water is rising, but perhaps this very water provides respite from the confines of our social roles. This panel explores open water as liminal space with its loosely defined—or absent—borders facilitating broader self-expression for the people working, serving, and living upon it. We call for scholarship examining ways in which contemporaneous boundaries of gender and sexuality have been expanded, rejected, and/or pantomimed on the high seas, ranging from the expression of 18th century pirates to 19th century whalers to 20th century naval officers.

OBJECTIVES
The Chesapeake Digital Humanities Consortium (CDHC) invites submissions for its third annual conference: Digital Pandemic Studies: Public Health and Structural Oppressions. In the early 2020s we as citizens of the world find ourselves grappling with two pandemics - COVID-19 and its long tail, race and structural oppressions in public life, and all the places where these two intersect. With this in mind, the Chesapeake Digital Humanities Conference invites proposals for papers to be presented at the 2022 CDHC on any topic related to the COVID-19 pandemic and/or structural oppressions in public life, and in particular where the two intersect.

The Film Education Journal (FEJ) is the world’s only publication committed to exploring how teachers and other educators work with film, and to involving other participants – policymakers, academics, researchers, cultural agencies and film-makers themselves – in that conversation. The journal publishes a range of article types, aimed at reaching our diverse academic and practitioner audience.

The conference will explore the historical and theoretical dimensions of colonial and postcolonial studies and it will focus on the impact colonialism had on political, social, economic and cultural domains. It will examine various forms of colonial domination and control as well as theories and practices of resistance.

Life-history approach occupies the central place in conducting and producing (auto)biographical and (auto)ethnographic studies through the understanding of self, other, and culture. We construct and develop conceptions and practices by engaging with memory through narrative, in order to negotiate ambivalences and uncertainties of the world and to represent (often traumatic) experiences.
Food is a basic foundation of culture and society, it is vital to our health and well-being and it plays a significant role in our everyday creative engagement with nature. The shifts in activities surrounding food acquisition, preparation and consumption are not only essential for learning a culinary tradition but for examining a broader societal change.
This conference will explore food as a complex cultural product, an indicator of social, religious and political identity. It will focus on people's relationship with food and discuss how food choices are determined by historical period, region, class, gender, kinship and/or ethnicity.
