Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference

The 2006 "Sexuality Out of Place" conference is focused on examining the
relationship of space, place, and geography with sexuality; it interested in
exploring the different ways the location of identity plays out when
sexuality, sexual difference, and geography are taken seriously. This
conference will welcome graduate work—historical and contemporary—focused on
discourse, narratives, and practices of sexuality understood through the

The William Faulkner Society will sponsor two panels at the 2006 American
Literature Association conference, to be held May 25-28 in San
Francisco. We welcome papers on all topics relating to the work of William
Faulkner, but would be especially interested in presentations addressing
Faulkner and postcoloniality; Faulkner and "things"; Faulkner and the West;
Faulkner and form.

Theoretical Approaches to Illness for the 2006 SSAWW in Philadelphia, PA.
Elements of physical or mental illness appear in various works by American
women. The panel calls for papers that analyze illness using various
approaches, such as feminist theory, psychoanalysis, etc. Send proposals to
bjensen_at_gpc.edu on or before January 5, 2006.

The Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language, and Media (MCLLM)
is hosting its annual graduate student conference on March 31 and
April 1, 2006. The conference will be held at Northern Illinois
University in DeKalb, Illinois. First-time conference presenters are
encouraged to apply!
The keynote speakers for this year's conference are Dr. Susan Gubar,
Distinguished Professor of English at Indiana University and George
Hillocks, Professor Emeritus of the University of Chicago and
Consultant in Writing and Language Arts Education.
