Saw Palm, a Florida-themed literary e-journal, invites submissions of
poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, art, photography, and book reviews for
its inaugural issue. We're looking for Florida work—which may include work
from anywhere that concerns itself with Florida (images, people, themes), or
work from Florida not obviously about someplace else. Please email
submissions in the body of the message and a brief bio to

The Graduate Film Studies Group of the University of Florida seeks
proposals for Reel Fear: Horror, Suspense, and Anxiety in Postmodern
Film. This symposium will be held at the University of Florida on
October 20th, 2006.

The daylong event will consist of academic panels, along with lectures
by our two keynote speakers: Carol J. Clover, author of Men, Women, and
Chain Saws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film, and Adam Lowenstein,
author of Shocking Representations: Historical Trauma, National Cinema,
and the Modern Horror Film.
