We invite submissions for the second issue of Theatre Academy: A Journal of World Theatre which will be published electronically in September.

* Deadline is the end of July, however, we strongly advise the potential writers to send their manuscripts in as soon as possible.

* Original works related to theatre in any context will be considered for publication. For the second issue, alongside established academics, we would like encourage graduate students to submit their work.

Call for proposals – panel #20 on “Affective and Relational Responses to Vulnerability in Twenty-First-Century U.S. Narratives”

This interdisciplinary volume seeks to bring multiple fields together in order to investigate diaspora, food, and memory. 

This volume takes a multi-field approach to answer the following three questions:

1. How do diasporic communities use food to navigate a relationship with their homeland? 

2. In what ways do diasporic foodways sustain and/or rupture cultural legacies?

3. What are the relationships between food and cultural memory?

Proposal Notes

Inspired by Pascale Casanova's world literary system, this panel seeks to challenge national paradigms by investigating transnational mediators. We welcome papers addressing writers who specialize in international mediation strategies (adaptation, translation, mimesis, extraction), specific moments of cultural brokerage, or literary works that are considered to have global influences and international linguistic-literary value. Please submit a 250-word abstract directly to the conference website - https://pamla.ballastacademic.com - by May 31.

We are currently accepting submissions for the Renaissance Literature Excluding Drama panel taking place at the 2023 South Central Modern Language Association annual conference. The conference will be held in Corpus Christi, TX, on October 12-14. We welcome papers on any and all non-dramatic literary Renaissance works, including works from the English Renaissance/Early Modern period. From Machiavelli to Milton and Cervantes to Stanley, all works of poetry and prose are open for consideration. Neither the conference nor the panel have a theme, so we welcome papers with a wide range of topics. The deadline to submit abstracts is July 10, 2023. Cultural Intertexts, an academic journal of Literature and Cultural Studies, ISSN 2393-0624, E-ISSN 2393-1078, invites proposals of original articles related to the theme: “Representations of the Danube in Literature and the Arts”.

From the Black Forest to the Black Sea, the Danube crosses ten countries and four capital cities, forming a site of cultural memory, both fluid because of the natural features of the river and static because of the lands it connects. From epoch to epoch, the Danube has sparked the imagination of many writers and artists that left us a rich artistic heritage, whose disparate locations invite us to travel and explore.

The UNESCO Chair on Cyberspace and Culture and University of Tehran are organizing the 2023 Media and Information Literacy Seminar with the main theme of “A Collective Global Agenda” on Wednesday, 25 October 2023, which coincides with the World Development Information Day and United Nations Day.

New Orleans is known as one of the most haunted cities in the U.S. and as a haven for vampires (thank you, Anne Rice), but there are so many more monsters there than ghosts and vampires. With such a rich tradition of magic and the paranormal, New Orleans dazzles artists and scholars alike, inviting us all into the mysteries. To celebrate the dark depths of the city, PCAS welcomes papers or presentations that explore the monsters and the monstrous that roam the streets and psyches of New Orleans. 

Screen Bodies invites submissions to be considered for a forthcoming general issue. We welcome work that focuses on matters of embodiment in media arts from any of the disciplinary or methodological perspectives described below. Research articles are typically between 6k–9k words.
