Journal of NZ Literature: Kiwi Gothic (1/20/04)

The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 20th, 2004.

Contributions are invited for a collection of academic essays on The Rocky
Horror Picture Show and popular culture with appropriate publishing house
interest. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

Lit: Literature Interpretation Theory is soliciting
submissions for a special issue on Servants and
Literature.

This issue will explore the role of domestic servants
in British, American, and/or world literature from a
variety of critical perspectives. We welcome
comparative approaches that link different regions,
periods, or genres as well as theoretically informed
readings of individual texts. Papers that address
writings by or for servants are also welcome.

New International Sephardic Journal Accepting Papers

A new journal called the International Sephardic Journal: A Biannual =
Journal Exploring the Sephardic World Past and Present is expected to =
publish Volume I, Issue I midwinter 2004 . The International Sephardic =
Journal (ISJ) is a new publication which plans to explore the Sephardic =
Jewish world past and present. Issued biannually in English to an =
international membership of readers, ISJ strives to present interesting =
essays, articles and papers on the Sephardim.=20

  All but six names have been taken in response to my previous call
for contributors to a new Dictionary of Literary Biography volume on
early American nature writers. I have revised this list and deleted a
few of the most obscure and have added new names--minor but not
impossibly obscure poets. If you would like to write an entry for any
of these writers still left, please let me know. The entry, by the way,
will require 2000-3000 words and will be due in six months. Here

The Burney Society is pleased to announce the foundation of an annual prize,
named in honour of the late Joyce Hemlow, Greenshields Professor of English at
McGill University, whose biography of Frances Burney and edition of her
journals and letters are among the foundational works of
