The Department of French Studies at Brown University announces its 14th annual Graduate Conference

March 17-18, 2006

We invite graduate students to present 15-minute papers relevant to the dual theme of "literary consumption" - in texts dealing with consumption as well as the consumption of texts themselves. We welcome submissions that treat French and Francophone works, as well as broader cultural or theoretical issues, from the Middle Ages to the present.

Studies in American Culture welcomes the submission of essays on all
aspects of American culture and from all scholarly and critical
approaches. We especially invite interdisciplinary studies of the
literature, language, visual arts, and history of the United States.*

Our diverse readership includes academics and non-academics who come
from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. We prefer fresh,
innovative essays that are informed by research and current critical
theories but which avoid alienating jargon.

Annual Conference, September 14-15, 2006

The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) will hold its annual
conference at The Graduate Center, CUNY, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York City,
September 14-15, 2006. While papers addressing any aspect of Victorian
periodicals will be considered, RSVP particularly welcomes proposals for
papers on the topic of geographies, broadly construed. We encourage
submission of proposals from any disciplinary perspective.

Student Essay Contest

The Mid-Atlantic Women's Studies Association is pleased to announce The
Fifth Annual Student Prize for Scholarly Excellence in Women's Studies.

Two awards, underwritten by the Mid-Atlantic Women's Studies Association,
are given annually to one undergraduate and one graduate student who submit
the best previously unpublished essays on any aspect of women's studies
scholarship. In addition to receiving cash awards of fifty dollars, the
writers of the winning essays are invited to deliver a presentation based on
their essays at the Women of Color and Allies Conference in Philadelphia,
March 18, 2006.
