We are particularly interested in the ways in which justice can be served through our pedagogy. This might include course design, classroom management and procedures, or assessment.

Call for critical essays to be included in a collection on Murder, She Wrote, which we are proposing for inclusion in Routledge’s Advances in Popular Culture series.

With the recent fall of Kabul, Afghanistan has resurfaced in political and critical discourses. The “Graveyard of Empires” as it is known, the popular imagination of the country has been a source to draw courage from for subalterns the world over. Its crucial geopolitical location has often made it a site for global scuffles of major powers as we witnessed in Rudyard Kipling's Kim and its backdrop of the Great Game. We have also often seen how Hollywood’s Orientalist lenses transformed the country into a site for fulfilment of neocolonial American desires—Rambo vanquishing the Soviets almost single-handedly in the background of the Cold War.

Celebrating the role of women in Texas conservation, we are compiling an edited collection of essays composed by and about Texas women conservationists. Essay topics will include but are not limited to historic explorations of Texas women in the field of conservation; trailblazing Texas women in contemporary conservation; BIPOC women in Texas conservation; conservation as a field in Texas academia; inspiring future generations of Texas women conservationists; career potentials for women in the Texas field of conservation; and Texas women conservationists’ personal reflections.

ABOUT CHACHITRA DARPAN (translates to Cinematic Review)

Chalchitra Darpan is an undergraduate film journal by Celluloid, the Film Society of Miranda House, University of Delhi, India. The inaugural edition (2019-20), which was Delhi University’s first ever undergraduate journal, was introduced with the vision of building a student community of future film scholars around it. The journal aims to provide an academic space for undergraduates interested in film and media, who wish to explore and engage in film academia.

Desire and the Erotics of Introspection

This collection will provide college-level instructors with short, provocative, and practical essays on new, antiracist methods for teaching poetry. We’re keen to identify outmoded approaches that need to be unsettled, and we invite you to write against their inadequate, outdated, toxic, and downright racist effects. Ultimately, Unsettling Poetry Pedagogy seeks to put antiracist teaching and research directly in conversation with each other, offering productive, tangible ways for poetry classrooms to confront social injustice. 

The WRoCAH Student Journal is a journal for Arts and Humanities postgraduate students at the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. We are now seeking submissions for our next issue. Contributions are not limited to WRoCAH students alone and submissions from postgraduate students based at any of these universities are encouraged.

This is our 18th  annual conference held on Saturday, April 2nd at the UVM campus. The theme is Tolkien’s Histories and the Idea of History in Middle-earth.  Possibilities include theories of history, the placement of Tolkien himself within historical discourse, the impact of European historical events, the influence of ancient and medieval histories, the play of genre, the history of sexuality, of race, of gender, of science, of religion, the histories within Tolkien's legendarium and in cinematic adaptations, and much more. Submitted abstracts need not be on the theme; all will be considered. Our keynote will be delivered by Dr. Gergely Nagy. There will be a virtuql component to this conference, and we will accept virtual delivery.
