of the CEA.

We invite papers on 20th-Century British Literature for the 38th annual
meeting of the CEA. This year's conference theme is "Empathy and Ethics";
for our 2007 meeting, CEA invites papers that consider how we construct and
understand empathy or ethical responsibilities and how those understandings
inform what we write, read, and teach.

Papers may address this topic in the field of 20th-century British
literature, culture, and film. Submissions are also welcome on any general
topic in the field of 20th-century British literary studies as well.

DEADLINE: December 1, 2006 (vol.16.1 Spring 2007)

"Interactions"  is an international journal on British
and American
Literature and Culture, published twice a year in Fall
and Spring by Ege University
Depts. of British and American Studies
(Izmir/Turkey).

It is internationally refereed and indexed in
MLA International
Bibliography, featuring essays, film
and book
reviews (ISSN 1300-574-X).

General submission deadlines are
July 1 for the Fall Issue and December 1
for the Spring Issue.

Articles (4000-7000 words) and reviews (2000-4000 words) should
follow MLA

circumstances? Do we prepare our students always to act in right

The English Department at The University of Alabama is inviting
proposals for its biannual symposium that will convene March 29-30,
2007. Entitled "Eruptions of Funk," the symposium will provide a venue
in which scholars and artists can engage issues specifically related to
