This interdisciplinary volume seeks to bring multiple fields together in order to investigate diaspora, food, and memory.
This volume takes a multi-field approach to answer the following three questions:
How do diasporic communities use food to navigate a relationship with their homeland?
In what ways do diasporic foodways sustain and/or rupture cultural legacies?
What are the relationships between food and cultural memory?

Inspired by Pascale Casanova's world literary system, this panel seeks to challenge national paradigms by investigating transnational mediators. We welcome papers addressing writers who specialize in international mediation strategies (adaptation, translation, mimesis, extraction), specific moments of cultural brokerage, or literary works that are considered to have global influences and international linguistic-literary value. Call for Submissions
Sankofa: A Journal of African Children’s and Young Adult Literature is accepting scholarly article submissions for its Spring 2024 (Vol. 14) publication. Sankofa welcomes articles that relate to one of the following areas:
(1) “The African Scene,” which provides critical, scholarly articles about African children’s book authors and illustrators, trends and development in book production for children in Africa, or an examination of a specific genre or theme within African children’s, adolescent, or young adult literature (4,000-8,000 words).
We are currently accepting submissions for the Renaissance Literature Excluding Drama panel taking place at the 2023 South Central Modern Language Association annual conference. The conference will be held in Corpus Christi, TX, on October 12-14. We welcome papers on any and all non-dramatic literary Renaissance works, including works from the English Renaissance/Early Modern period. From Machiavelli to Milton and Cervantes to Stanley, all works of poetry and prose are open for consideration. Neither the conference nor the panel have a theme, so we welcome papers with a wide range of topics. The deadline to submit abstracts is July 10, 2023. Call for papers for an international in-person conference on speculative fiction, science fiction and fantasy fiction to be held in Milan, Italy, October 18-20, 2023. From the Black Forest to the Black Sea, the Danube crosses ten countries and four capital cities, forming a site of cultural memory, both fluid because of the natural features of the river and static because of the lands it connects. From epoch to epoch, the Danube has sparked the imagination of many writers and artists that left us a rich artistic heritage, whose disparate locations invite us to travel and explore.
The Journal of Cyberspace Studies (JCSS) is an international peer-reviewed free platinum open access journal that the University of Tehran Press biannually publishes on behalf of the “Cyberspace Policy Research Center” and the “UNESCO Chair on Cyberspace and Culture” with links to UNESCO’s IFAP thematic priorities.
The journal aims to contribute to the reinvigoration of the interdisciplinary intersections of cyberspace studies, and to provide a leading scholarly platform for publishing contributions to the field.

French Bandes dessinées / Comics and Their Adaptations (Panel / In-Person)
Henri Bergson was a French philosopher and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature in 1927. Bergson’s lectures were popular with not only academia, but public audiences as well. Bergson influenced the literary work of authors like Borges, Proust, and Woolf as well as the philosophical work of Merleau-Ponty, Sartre, and Deleuze. In addition, Bergson, a talented mathematician, debated Einstein on the nature of relativity. Bergson’s work has had instrumental influence in the virtual reality gaming industry. Considering Bergson’s influence in art and science, this panel offers unbounded opportunities to explore and unpack his narratives as they relate to any number of themes related to shifting perspectives.

With such a rich tradition of magic and the paranormal, New Orleans dazzles artists and scholars alike, inviting us all into the mysteries. To celebrate the dark depths of the city, PCAS welcomes papers or presentations that explore the monsters and the monstrous that roam the streets and psyches of New Orleans.

We are pleased to invite you to submit papers for the third issue of Living in Languages Journal, an online open-source, peer-reviewed graduate journal devoted to translation studies at the University at Albany.
