Theme: "Making an Audience (Medieval)"

We have had a fantastic response to our conference CFP, but to complete our
programme we are looking for a panel of medievalists, with papers focused on
the theme of the conference. We are also delighted to confirm that Prof John
Thompson (QUB) and Prof Bill Bell (Edinburgh) will be our plenary speakers.

The Science Fiction and Fantasy session will have three or four
twenty-minute papers at the South Central Modern Language Association
meeting in Memphis TN next November. 500-word abstracts (or full drafts)
should be submitted to Joe R. Christopher, English Department, Box T-0300,

conference is "Currents," but no tie-in is necessary. For information

17th New Zealand Asian Studies Society (NZASIA) International Conference,
University of Otago, 22-25 November 2007. This will be an open,
multidisciplinary conference. Participants are invited to submit panel or
paper proposals presenting original research on any Asian-related topic.
Proposals for panels are welcome. Paper abstracts, single-spaced and no
longer than 200 words, must be submitted before 1 June 2007 to

This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be

papers can examine any aspect of Piatt scholarship.

Panel: Literature and Social Activism

Collaboration, communication, and the language of debate used in
social activism are crucial to the success of any politicized movement
that attempts to shape public opinion. Social activism can be
expressed in a wide variety of forms; writing to newspapers, political
pressure on elected officials, demonstrations, rallies, street
marches, essays, proletarian novels, protest poetry, testimonials,
graffiti, and more radical guerilla tactics which aim to disrupt the
social, political, or economic status quo of the nation.
