of the conversation about realism (small r) in contemporary literary

problems, meanings, and politics of the literary representation of

Existing examinations of genre in Asian visual media have tended to focus on film, rather than television. Among those, certain genres (melodrama, martial arts, horror) and national contexts (India, trans-national China, Japan, and more recently, South Korea) have received the lion's share of academic attention.
