CALL FOR PAPERS
Reading James
Responding, in part, to the readings and re-readings of Henry James that
circulated in the March 2004 issue of PMLA, this forum will take up the
topic of "Reading James."
UPDATE: Writing Macao: creative text and teaching
Submissions are now sought for the second number of Writing Macao:creative
text and teaching, to appear in November of 2004. Contributions are
particularly sought in the area of theory and practice relating to the
teaching of creative writing in English in non-native contexts. The
extended deadline for papers is September, 2004. Submissions of creative

A Claude McKay Critical Reader
While a major figure in the literature of the Harlem Renaissance, Claude
McKay continues to be frequently marginalized - and misunderstood - in
discussions of the era. In an effort to further develop the critical
understanding of this intriguing early twentieth-century author, we are
looking for essays that address any aspect of McKay's work to include in
a forthcoming critical reader. Topics on McKay may include, but are not
limited to:

I am currently soliciting contributions for a collection of essays on
performance in nineteenth-century American oratorical cultures.
Specifically, I am seeking approaches from a variety of disciplines,
including American Studies, Classics, Communications, English, History,
Performance Studies, Rhetoric, or interdisciplinary approaches to the
relation of performance of performativity to theories, practices, or
individuals involved in nineteenth-century American oratory.
