We are seeking a third participant for a special session that will be taking
place at the MLA convention this year, on Wednesday, December 27, at 5:15
pm, in Philadelphia. The title of the special session is "Postirony in
Theory and Fiction."

One of our participants is no longer able to take part in this panel, which
means we have an open slot that we'd like to fill. We're especially
interested in papers that discuss the concept of postirony in the essays
and fiction of David Foster Wallace. Papers on related topics are also
welcome.

The Flannery O'Connor Society invites proposals for papers dealing with
O'Connor's work within a global perspective. Possible topics might include
(but are not limited to):
--O'Connor's perspective toward internationalization in a post-war America.
--How O'Connor's works are understood in the non-American classroom.
--How O'Connor fits within literary traditions in other countries.
--Pedagogial differences when teaching O'Connor abroad or to international
students.
--O'Connor texts as part of a Global Literature curriculum.

CRAFT CRITIQUE CULTURE is an interdisciplinary conference focusing on the
intersections between critical and creative approaches to writing both
within and beyond the academy. This year's conference will examine the ways
that sex and gender define, delimit, distort, and dissolve the lines between
public and private spheres. Our keynote speakers include the University of
Chicago's George M. Pullman Professor of Literature, Lauren Berlant and the

Borderlines XI: Call for Papers

Minds and Mentalities

Papers from postgraduates in medieval studies and related fields are
invited for the eleventh annual Borderlines conference, 'Minds and
Mentalities', to be held at Queen's University Belfast on April
13-15, 2007. The title is intended to embrace as wide a range of
research interests as possible, with papers being welcome from all
disciplines within the humanities and social sciences. Thus,
prospective speakers are encouraged to interpret this title with
reference to any specialism; including literature, theology,
