Manuscripts are sought that address practical and/or theoretical
approaches to teaching the short story and other forms of short fiction.
These manuscripts will gladly be considered for inclusion in upcoming
issues of The Academic Exchange Quarterly, a peer-reviewed journal that
appears in both print and electronic versions and enjoys wide
circulation.

(SCTAN) is proud to announce the planned publication of an edited volume on
folklore and folklife of South Carolina. The volume will be published by
the University of South Carolina Press.
We have just signed a contract with USC Press and have promised delivery of

TRANSLATION AND 'THE CLASSIC': Call for papers for a book to be published in 2005 edited by Alexandra Lianeri and Vanda Zajko.

The recent growth of interest in translation studies and classical
reception has led to greater attention being paid to the question of
translation. Yet no work has yet focused on the implications of translation for the definition and evaluation of 'the classic'. TOPIC, the annual of Washington and Jefferson College, is soliciting
original critical essays for the Fall 2004 issue on J. K. Rowling's Harry
Potter novels.

We are particularly interested in essays that (1) discuss her most recent
volume, HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, (2) analyze the film
adaptations of the novels, and (3) study the impact of Rowling's books on
writing for children (and perhaps even writing by children).

All essays will be subject to review by the seven members of the editorial
board. They should be well researched, carefully documented, and
intelligible to those in other disciplines.
