A MONTHLY PEER-REVIEWED ON-LINE FORUM
Submissions are invited from undergraduates, graduates, and educators for
Academic Exchange Extra (Editor-in-Chief, Karen Heise). Extra presents
ideas, research methods, and pedagogical theories leading to effective
instruction and learning regardless of level, subject or context. We also
seek cogent essays, poetry and fiction.

I would like to invite submissions to a collection of new essays on the
seventeenth-century writer, Thomas Traherne. 2003 will mark the 100 year
anniversary of Dobell's first edition of Traherne's poetry, so the timing is
right for such a collection. The general theme is "new approaches to
Traherne," and that can be interpreted broadly. All scholarly ranks are
encouraged to submit. Major university presses have already expressed
initial interest in the project. Begin by sending a detailed
prospectus/abstract and a brief C.V. to:

Harrington Gay Men's Fiction Quarterly seeks unpublished critical essays,
interviews with writers, extended book reviews, bibliographic essays, prose
memoir, cultural criticism, and related prose works, aimed for a general
readership of gay men. International in scope, the journal publishes work in
translation as well as writing by Anglophone authors. Authors of any

Call for Contributors

The Journal of the American Studies Association of Texas (JASAT) is
accepting manuscripts 15-25 pages in length on various aspects of American
culture, with an emphasis on Texas, the South, and the Southwest. Among
recent articles are "An Aural Counterpart: Afro-Chicano Music Culture and
Mainstream Radio in Post-War Los Angeles," "Wiring Texas: The Story of the
Texas and Red River Telegraph Company"; "Chinese Medicine and Asian-American
Literature [vis a vis San Francisco]: A Case Study of Fifth Chinese
Daughter"; and Donald K. Picken's reflections on the Civil War and the Lost
Cause thesis: "Second Thoughts on the Second American Revolution."

The editors of the journal *Style* would like to announce a call for
papers for a general issue: Volume 38, Number 1.

For this general issue, Style invites submissions that address questions
of style, stylistics, and poetics, including research and theory in
discourse analysis, literary and nonliterary genres, narrative,
figuration, metrics, rhetorical analysis, and the pedagogy of style.
Contributions may draw from such fields as literary criticism, critical
theory, computational linguistics, cognitive linguistics, philosophy of
language, and rhetoric and writing studies.

Call for Papers: Literary Aesthetics and Theory in Asian American

_Lit: Literature Interpretation Theory_ is currently
soliciting submissions for an upcoming special issue
on Mary McCarthy, guest edited by Brenda Murphy.

In-between: Essays & Studies in Literary Criticism

The editor invites long articles [6000 words, MLA Style-sheet] on all
aspects of Lawrence Durrell and his works for the issue that is being
prepared for the press and could use additional essays. Scholars who have
an essay ready to submit may get in touch with the editor at
