I am reposting a call for essays for a collection on Asian Gothic. After
some hiatus, a reputable publisher has finally been found, and I writing
to solicit essays which deploys Gothic poetics to read a variety of
Asian-centric narratives. I am looking for a few more essays which will
complete the project.

please contact me directly with regards to the status of your proposal
and update me with your latest contacts as I have been unable to contact
you).

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language, and Media (MCLLM) is
hosting its annual conference on March 30 and 31, 2007. The conference
will be held at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. We would
like to solicit proposals for 20 minute papers from scholars at all career
stages, from beginning graduate students to established and senior scholars.

The St. John's University Humanities Review is seeking well written
articles between 8-15 double spaced pages for publication in the
journal. We are seeking papers with a wide range of topics and are
especially looking for very specific topics that have not been written
about extensively already. Writing on contemporary authors is
preferable. Please email papers to SJUHumanities_at_Gmail.com.

Ryan Murphy's imaginative and controversial series,
Nip/Tuck, is one of a number of American television
shows that has taken on critical social and cultural
issues in the last decade. Nip/Tuck in particular has
examined the American dream, the mid-life crises of
the Baby Boom generation, sexuality, and queer
readings in extremely innovative ways. The "deeply
shallow" show has looked into the mirror of American
ideals of beauty, youth, and success and provided an
entertaining, chilling, and queer reading of them.

Re-mediating Literature will take place at Utrecht University (the
Netherlands) 4-6 july 2007, with keynote speakers Katherine Hayles,
Marie-Laure Ryan, Jan Baetens, and Samuel Weber. The aim of this conference
is to examine how technological changes have affected the 'old' medium of
literature in the present (digital media) and the past (writing machines,
film, radio, phonograph, grammophone, television).
