An international conference on Literature and the new media entitled
Re-mediating Literature will take place at Utrecht University (the
Netherlands) 4-6 july 2007, with keynote speakers Katherine Hayles,

Fourth Annual Emerging Scholarship Panel

The Music Theatre/Dance Focus Group of The Association
for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) announces its
call for papers for the Emerging Scholarship Panel for
the 2007 ATHE conference in New Orleans. Papers can
address any area in the purview of the Music
Theatre/Dance Focus group, which includes opera,
operettas, musicals, dance theatre, performance art
with music or dance elements, and pedagogy in music
theatre and dance. Submissions are open to graduate
students and scholars who have not presented at a
national conference, as well as established scholars
who have not presented or published in the areas of
Music Theatre or Dance.

Paper on the representation(2) of lesbian desire in popular
media--literature/television/film. Topics could include the construction
of figures, the development of erotic connections, adaptations of
characters to audience, straight actors/lesbian viewers, historical

Call for Papers for an NYCEA sponsored Special Topics Panel on
"Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language and Literature" at the 2007
College English Association (CEA) Conference New Orleans—April 12 to
April 14, 2007

We welcome submissions of NYCEA papers presented previously on the
following NYCEA Conference theme, OR new submissions on the topic of
this special session call: "Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language and

Writing While Arab: Politics, Hyphens, and Homelands

RAWI – the Radius of Arab American Writers, Inc. – is organizing its
second national conference in Dearborn, Michigan on May 17-20, 2007 at
the Arab American National Museum. The conference welcomes RAWI members
and others who are interested in engaging in the Arab American literary
community. The conference will provide a venue to present our writings
and ideas to one another and to the Detroit and Arab communities. Our
gathering will offer an opportunity for colleagues to share strategies
for publishing and circulating our work and also for confronting
academic, community, and political barriers.
