A Queer Call for Submissions

Submissions are now being accepted for the Queer Issues area of the on-line
peer-refereed journal, The Writing Instructor. For the debut issue of this
area, we encourage multi-genre/multi-media/queer/ "experimental" works that
explore the many ways in which queernesses intersect with literacy,
learning, social and cultural histories, politics, and ideology.
Topics/practices may include but are not limited to the following:

Journal of Canadian Jewish Studies, a peer-reviewed journal published by
the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies, will be devoting an issue to
the subject of writing by Canadian Jewish women. Submissions are invited
that consider the poetry, prose, life writing, and creative non-fiction of
Canadian Jewish women. Papers on women who have written in Yiddish,
"lost" writers, well-known writers, and contemporary writers are welcome.
Papers that draw on archival research are especially welcome. Papers
should be approximately 4000 words in length. Shorter, note-length papers
may be acceptable. Please send completed papers, together with an
abstract and a brief biographical statement, to:

like triads, quads, and pods, primary, secondary, and tertiary
relationships; as well as polyamorous styles of child bearing and
rearing.

Possible related topics are vegetarianism, veganism, nudism, naturism,

MLA Volume on Teaching North American Environmental Literature

For the MLA's Options for Teaching series, the Publications Committee has approved development of the volume
Teaching North American Environmental Literature as the first of several planned books devoted to teaching
environmental literature. The book's editor, Fred Waage (with associate editors Laird Christensen, Mark Long, and
Kevin O'Donnell), is seeking contributions and ideas for practical and theoretical essays on teaching literature in the
United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Essays in Arts and Sciences is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary scholarly
journal devoted to original examinations of the arts, of the physical and
social sciences, and of historical interpretation. We have published the
work of scholars in a wide variety of discourses and are interested in
submissions from any discipline in the arts, sciences and humanities. We
are pleased to accept the work of junior as well as seasoned scholars,
with the stipulation that chapters of dissertations or papers delivered at
conferences be revised to suit our format.

The MLA Publications Committee has accepted the manuscript _Approaches to
Teaching DeLillo's White Noise_, edited by Tim Engles and John Duvall, but
with the stipulation that we consider adding essays on

1) teaching _White Noise_ in a comparative literature context (along with
works by, e.g., Beckett, Kafka, Mann, and Gide)

2) teaching _White Noise_ in the context of disaster movies and novels
(both older ones like _The China Syndrome_ and _The Day After_ and more
recent examples).
