For a comprehensive critical study and reference resource on The Heritage
Series of Black Poetry (published in London from 1962-1975) and its
publisher/editor Paul Breman, I am seeking contributions and enquiries. The focus of
this book will be the 27 poetry collections published in the Heritage Series,
the Heritage pamphlet series, and the two poetry anthologies _Sixes and Sevens_
and _You Better Believe It_. The collection, which will be distributed
internationally, will include memoirs, poems, critical essays, photographs and
bibliographies.
I am seeking critical essays or memoirs on or by the poets included in the
Conference: Literature and the Cognitive Sciences at University of
Connecticut, Storrs.

The Problem of Double Allegiance in the Literary Production of Asian=20
Americans (1985 =96 2005)
IRCALC editors invite papers for the 2006 edition of Africa Literary Journal, ALJ. Tagged 'Re-Imagining African Literature (2), this 2006 edition, which pursues the 2003 theme edited by Charles Smith, is expected to complement the scholarly essays that appeared in that volume.
We are seeking essays for an edited collection on "Asian American
Literature and Postcolonial Theory," which should be both an exploration
and a mapping of the debates around these two terms and their corollaries.
Such corollary debates have erupted over the use of terms such as diaspora,
cultural memory, racial melancholy and trauma, nationalism, ethnicity, and
hybridity in Asian American cultural critique. Essays that consider these
genealogies and/or question the usefulness of theories derived from
colonial and postcolonial discourse are especially welcome. Also of
interest would be specific author, period, regional, national, and textual

welcome interdisciplinary paper proposals on topics
related to "The Ethics and Politics of de/constructing
identity in literature, art, and the humanities".
We are particularly interested in the following:
The ways in which literary texts uphold or dismantle
the identity categories of race, nation, class,
gender, etc.; the strategies through which literary
texts or art works acknowledge and negotiate cultural
difference; and the ways in which they contribute to

We're looking for papers that consider films that portray ethnic communities
in urban environments. Papers could look at one film or a number of films.
We are particularly interested in analysis concerned with the movement of

The 2006 edition of Pembroke Magazinewill be a special edition focusing
on Native American literature. The magazine will feature a section of

Mississippi Quarterly invites submissions for a special issue on
American Indian literatures and cultures in the South to be published
late in 2006. Critical and historical essays on any genre or period will
be considered.
Completed essays of no more than 10,000 words should be submitted by

the publication of Lanark and which reached a high point with the
publication of Trainspotting appears to have reached a new stage
following devolution and the establishment of Scotland's first parliament
in nearly three hundred years. Scotland's recently changed political
situation suggests a number of questions regarding the present and future
of contemporary Scottish fiction. Has devolution changed the implied role
of the Scottish fiction writer and the reception of and/or market for
