Life-history approach occupies the central place in conducting and producing  (auto)biographical and (auto)ethnographic studies through the understanding of self, other, and culture. We construct and develop conceptions and practices by engaging with memory through narrative, in order to negotiate ambivalences and uncertainties of the world and to represent (often traumatic) experiences.

Named Time magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’ and Spotify’s ‘Artist of 2023,’ Taylor Swift has dominated the music scene with re-recordings, a global tour and billions of streams. Singer, songwriter, performer and film director, Swift has excelled across genres, categories and artistic mediums. Bringing together academics, students and ‘Swifties,’ this conference will consider Taylor Swift as a major feminist voice and performer in the 21st century. Coinciding with the European leg of ‘The Eras Tour,’ the conference will offer a space to explore Swift’s feminist Reputation.

We are pleased to announce the call for papers for Lived Experiences, the international two- day PhD conference that takes place in Brussels, Belgium, on June 7th, and online on June 8th, 2024. This conference aims to create a platform for doctoral students specializing in literary studies, literary translation studies, and theatre studies to showcase their research and engage in discussions on the profound impact of personal narratives and lived experiences in shaping creative works. It provides an excellent opportunity for emerging scholars to actively participate in scholarly dialogues, share their findings, and contribute to the broader academic discourse.

The Department of English Language and Literature at Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) invites submissions for 'Acts of Literary Creation,' an undergraduate conference to be held Friday, April 19 April, 2024. Submissions for online and in-person presentations are welcome. 

From storytelling and architectural design to moviemaking and economic production, the act of creating is intimately tied to our senses of self and community. What is creativity? What constitutes a creation? What constitutes a creature? What are the political implications of the act of creation? How might an attention to creativity impact our understandings of the history of literary thought?

The College of Arts and Humanities at Bethune-Cookman University welcomes proposals for the annual Zora Neale Hurston Conference to be held virtually on February 15-16, 2024. Hip Hop Hurston recognizes the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop as well as Hurston’s celebration of African American vernacular and culture as a precursor to this movement.

You are invited to submit abstracts for individual or panel presentations on Hip-Hop, Zora Neale Hurston, or any of her multidisciplinary interests. Presentations can be scholarly, pedagogical, and/or creative and should not exceed 15 minutes. We are also interested in student panels.
