This panel is open to any paper submissions dealing with the reading, adaptation, pedagogical use or critical interpretation of children's literature.

Paper topics may include, but are not limited to:

Classroom use of children's literature (elementary, secondary or higher education curriculums)
Reception of children's literature, past and present
Adaptation of children's literature into film or television
Critical studies on specific genres and/or periods of children's literature

The decennial Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference sponsored by the Higher Education Council of Berks County (PA) will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Reading Area Community College (Reading, PA).

The HECBC invites undergraduate students of all majors to participate in this multidisciplinary event by displaying their work in one of the following conference formats:
• individual or panel paper-presentations
• poster presentations
• musical, theatrical, or oratorical performances
• artistic or technical exhibitions
The conference theme is "Juggling Ambiguity," but students' work does not have to address this theme.

RHETORIC AND COMPOSITION
Contributors are invited to submit critical works on any aspect of rhetoric and composition. Potential topics may include but are not limited to the following:

The American Shakespeare Center, in partnership with Shakespeare's Globe in London, will host its fifth Blackfriars Conference, "Inside Out/Outside In," in honor of Andy Gurr in Staunton, Virginia, from 20-25 October 2009. Registration fee includes tickets to the ASC productions of 1 Henry IV, Merry Wives, Titus Andronicus, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Rehearsal by George Villier (et al); opening and closing banquets; a special presentation by the ASC actors honoring the work of Andy Gurr; and Paul's Menzer's Shakespeare on Ice, a play and cocktail party.

**The deadline for submissions to the literature and psychology session
of the SCMLA has been extended to Friday, March 27th.**

Submissions are currently being accepted for the Literature and
Psychology session of the 66th annual South Central Modern Language
Association conference, October 29th through the 31st in Baton Rouge,
LA. In keeping with this year's theme of "Continuity and Displacements",
we're seeking papers that explore psychological continuity within a
text. Texts that explore displacement, trauma studies, and anxiety will
be given preference, but submissions on any number of topics are highly
encouraged.

Focus:
In recent years, many schools have added sustainable, green practices to
their mission statements. Some have also added course requirements that
help students develop an ecological perspective while others have changed
operations to limit their institution’s impact on the environment. Writing
teachers have often contributed to this charge by integrating readings and
writing activities that help students better understand their relationship
to the environment. These teachers believe in the shared responsibility for
helping students come to terms with environmental crises and fostering
biospheric literacy. This approach to literacy education often includes an
