Louisa May Alcott, Kate Chopin, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Willa Cather,
Sarah Orne Jewett, Edith Wharton, Charlotte Perkins Gilman and, soon to be
added: Susan Warner.
Particularly useful are guides to research (see the Gilman guide for
examples)

Mississippi and the General Editor of the Garland Shakespeare Criticism
Series, is soliciting one-page proposals for 25 page essays on Othello
for a future collection on the play. He wants proposals on papers that
deal directly and theoretically with race, representation, gender and
genre as well as performance. Send just a one-page proposal to him via
