CFP: Journal of Cognitive Liberties (journal)
Journal of Cognitive Liberties Call for Papers:
The peer-reviewed Journal of Cognitive Liberties is a scholarly open
forum for expressing thoughts on the importance of cognitive liberty-the
fundamental human right to experience multiple modes of thought and to
engage in independent, insightful, and creative mental processes free of
government prohibition.
The Journal of Cognitive Liberties seeks to define and vitalize the
public debate over human autonomy and mental emancipation. Our
international focus is on new and old drugs, techniques, and
technologies that have the potential to enhance, augment, or restrict
freedom of thought.
The editors welcome post-disciplinary submissions in related areas of
inquiry. Articles address the intersection of technology with cultural
control mechanisms such as
Drug Prohibition,
Legislative Regulation,
Social Policy,
Ethics,
Civil and Human Rights.
Contributions are invited that situate cognitive liberty, freedom of
thought, or mental autonomy in the context of post-structuralism,
phenomenology, and postmodernism.
We particularly encourage submissions relating to the law, public policy
and use of emergent technologies and psychopharmacology.
Articles should be timely and have the potential to be enjoyed by
individuals in multiple disciplines. Academic papers, monographs, essays,
book reviews and translations are all acceptable.
Format: The Journal accepts electronic copies of both short and long
articles. Please send a Microsoft Word or RTF document on a diskette, as
well as a hard copy of your submission, to the address below. If
diagrams or artwork augments your submission, please include as a TIF or
JPEG on a Windows diskette. Although we publish articles in Chicago
style format, authors may submit articles for evaluation in any format.
Our editors will work with authors after acceptance to conform the
articles to our requirements.
Deadlines: The Journal of Cognitive Liberties is published three times
per year by the Center for Cognitive Liberty & Ethics (CCLE) in Davis,
California. Deadlines for submissions are: October 1 (Spring); March 1
(Fall); July 1 (Winter).
Contact: Please send submissions to Sharon O'Toole Dubois, Editor,
