III EUROPEAN INTERTEXTS CONFERENCE - A STUDY OF WOMEN'S WRITING IN ENGLISH
AS PART OF A EUROPEAN FABRIC.

LOVING AGAINST THE ODDS
Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona (Spain) in
collaboration with The University of Hull (UK).
The aim of the project is to coordinate individual research
on women's writing in English as it relates to specific
European cultures, or alternatively on women's writing in
other European languages as it relates to Anglophone
culture. We aim to produce a series of five collections of
thematic essays largely based on the proceedings of each
conference, as well as on other eventual contributions.

The conference will address issues dealing with the general
topic of the project, focussing specifically on the theme of
LOVING AGAINST THE ODDS, which suggests transcending
barriers and obstacles of all types. How do women writers
inscribe love and desire within European contexts?
We will be counting on papers from the core members of the
project, as well as a limited number of papers from other
participants who are willing to contribute to the topic of
this year's conference.

Our two guests speakers will be Maria S. Suárez Lafuente
and Isabel Carrera Suárez, both from the University of
Oviedo, Spain. Other speakers include Angela Leighton,
Valerie Sanders and Patsy Stoneman.

Registration fee is 50?, payable at the registration desk
on the first day.
